Who was here?

Bye bye Wee and Chan Kit!
Written at Thursday, January 28, 2010 | back to top

Sydney's weather is reminding me of Kuala Lumpur recently. Hot in the morning and afternoon, thunderstorms at night. It gives me the feeling as if I'm back home, I don't know why, maybe I miss home too much. Or maybe Sydney just doesn't rain THAT often normally... The weather forecast says rain for the next whole week! And my umbrella is going to break anytime soon - pondering on whether to buy a new one here or just wait till the next time I go back to KL.

I've been busy studying for the past week - my Business Taxation exam is on the 2nd of February so wish me luck!!! I really hope I'll do well in this one because it's the only course I'm taking during this term. If I score badly, it would be such an embarrassment.

Ok, back to the topic of the day: Wee and Chan Kit's farewell. It was held last Monday, 25th of January, 1 day before Australia Day. Don't ask me what Australia Day is, because all I know about it is that Australians will organise a barbecue and drink beer on that day in order to rejoice the fact that they are Australian. I really think Australians love barbecuing,  cos every time there's a party it would mean a barbie... :-P

The farewell was held at Yilyn's and it was a dinner pot luck (again, another pot luck - these things seem really famous now for our gatherings) and I brought Sushi! First time making sushi in Sydney- well technically it's the second time cos the first time I made it was just to try out my Sushi making skills, somewhat like a rehearsal.

Top sushi is crabmeat with egg and cucumber and the bottom one is a vegetarian sushi

Yin Kia and Seh Chun brought some vegetarian rendang to be eaten with bread. It was delicious and was the first thing to be gobbled down clean by everyone. Who knew vegetarian food could be so nice. Thumbs up to Yin Kia's cooking!

Where east meets west - Rendang and French Bread

Yilyn's contrubution - roast chicken she bought from a store nearby
A tad dry but otherwise okay - could have been saved by my all time favourite: Chilli sauce!

The night proceeded with us having dinner first and filling ourselves to the brim. Followed by a chit-chatting session and gossip session. Then a champaign drinking moment and lastly a game of cards.

Yilyn kept on winning for the whole time we played cards. Well, it might have proven something - she might have been just plain lucky or a very good cheater cos the game we played was called CHEAT! Haha.. the 7 of us, excluding Yilyn even ganged up to purposely make her lose but without avail... The only time when another person won was when we actually shifted places to change the "feng-shui". Haha, i think we played roughly 10 rounds that day and 9 out of 10 times, Yilyn won! (Maybe it was because of the fact that we were teasing her to be pregnant cos of the dress she was wearing- some say children bring a lot of luck to gamblers :-P)

Have to take picture first before we eat!

The ladies of the day - except Yin Kia and Seh Chun who kindly went out to get pizza for Wee

VIPs among the roses

VIPs and Me

By the time the party was over, it was already nearly 11 so half of us went home while the other half stayed up till 3am! Luckily I didn't stay a bit longer or else I would have missed the last bus home. Hehe.

By the way, Wee is leaving Sydney today (or has left) so just want to wish him to have a safe journey back home and good luck for his future!!! We all will surely miss you and your funny jokes!
