This is a long overdue post and will be the concluding post of my winter holidays. I hope you guys enjoyed reading about my well spent winter although it was not
that entertaining.
19th July 2009
One day before I part with my beloved. Although it was his second last day in Sydney, we didn't go out because we were busy packing stuff and shifting stuff back to my apartment from Boronia St. Luckily, our travel passes still worked so we need not worry about spending too much money on the bus.
Besides packing and shifting, I still had to cook some thing to bring to Susana's house later that evening. So amidst all the hustle and bustle about what to bring and what to throw, I managed to marinate the pork belly I bought a few days earlier by bringing it all the way back to my house in Barker St. LOL. This is because the knives in Boronia were really blunt and I had great difficulty trying to cut the pork into cubes.
So I left for my house and unpacked everything. After getting everything back into its original place. I decided to start slicing and dicing in the kitchen while Kuan Lung decided to go back to Boronia to fetch my bicycle (It was his bright idea anyway to take my bicycle from Barker to Boronia during the first weeks of his stay in Sydney - In the end we only used it 2 or 3 times, once to cycle in Centennial Park).
My dish of the day you ask? It was Bak Kut Teh! Yeah, wanted to impress those who attended :P. Luckily for me, they all did like it. Hehe.
On the way back, Kuan Lung managed to graze his hand on the wall and had a nasty scratch on his arm. But he still was very determined to fix my bike's gear and break - although unsuccessful. But it was good effort, I know you are no mechanic so never mind la. Still appreciate it.
After all that, we just went home and got ready to go out again. Finding SUV was quite a challenge for me because I've never really liked going to Sydney Uni's accommodation sites. They are so complicated and scattered around everywhere. But with Susana's help and after several phone calls, we managed to reach her house safe and sound.
Those who were already there were busy making egg tarts and since half of the others were not present yet, Kuan Lung and I decided to help Susana and Kiang Fei with their mission. After putting my Bak Kut Teh to boil on the stove (yes, the pork sat on the bus for a total of 3 times before getting cooked), we started pressing the dough into the aluminium cups and pouring the egg custard. Baked several batches and also managed to microwave one batch - because of my carelessness, I forgot to change the microwave function to conventional oven. LOL. Luckily the microwave did not explode cos of the aluminium.
The egg tart
The hostess and me - I prefer your straight hair Susana jie
The baker and his creation - the nicest looking tart of the lot
After everyone arrived, we started our chit chatting and eating session, we also managed to watch the grand finale of Master Chef Australia which Julie won. The dishes that were present in Susana's house included the hostess' Sarawak Laksa, CK's home made tom yum (without the paste), Vegetarian Pizza brought by Yin Kia, Wee's siew yuk and roast chicken, some tar pao-ed food by Zhi Bin and Theressa, oporto's chicken and not to forget the egg tarts and my bak kut teh! Hehe.
All the guys who were present
All the gals
Full and Happy
After half of the people went home, a few of us decided to go to SUV's lounge to play Wii and continue chit chatting. I managed to beat Kuan Lung in boxing, believe it or not and he managed to beat me upside down in Tennis. Chan Kit on the other hand kept on killing the audience by throwing the bowling ball backwards. Hahaha.
It was nearly 12 a.m. when we left Susana's house and we were left out in the cold because there were no more busses passing our way. So, we had to WALK all the way back to Elizabeth St which took us roughly and hour. Luckily I was surrounded by a big group of guys so it was pretty safe :)
We arrived home at roughly 2 am and retired to bed. The next day was the first day of my second semester so I had Kuan Lung to tag along with me to all my lectures before sending him off to the airport.
We nearly missed the plane because he carelessly read the departure time wrongly. So we had this amazing race moment where we ran for the taxi and begged the taxi to go faster and faster. Luckily the driver was nice enough and we reached the airport on time.
After saying our goodbyes in a teary but quick way (cos we were afraid that the plane will be flying off soon), I made my way back home, half crying and half comforting myself... :(
