Happy Birthday to Me!
Written at Friday, November 20, 2009 | back to top

19th November - A date that marks that I'm already 21 years old.

Feelings? Not much, happy and touched that my friend and house mates gave me a nice surprise for my birthday. But do I feel older or more matured in any way? Erm... Not really! Actually I still feel like I'm still in my teens like I've always told Kuan Lung. :P Perasan young.

Let me tell you how I celebrated my birthday... I woke up at 7.30 am just to go to the toilet cos my bladder was too full.. Wanted to sleep till later cos I was up till late the day before but my bladder's water retention failed me. So I opened the door and lo-and-behold a present sitting in front of my door! Haha.. My house mates placed their gifts there so that I could wake up to something cheerful. I was really shocked and didn't even have my glasses on. LOL.. I guess I'm not that blind after all cos I could spot something different on the floor. Hahaha.

After that I went back to sleep because I was still so sleepy and woke up again to another gift lying on my table! This time it's from Candy (she has been living with me in my room for the past week). Again another happy surprise.

Went down for breakfast and Candy already prepared me some pancakes to eat. Sweet right? I guess she filled in Kuan Lung's place for surprising me? Haha..

We have actually planned to go to the Royal Botanical Gardens in the morning for a walk, then go to Star City for the lunch buffet and to do something else after lunch if time permitted. However, girls being girls, we ended up taking too much time preparing ourselves to go out. So we canceled the garden walk and went straight to the Casino. Ate our lunch from 11.30 am till 3 pm just to eat our money's worth because we are commerce students. I'll leave you with some pictures of the food I had.

Roast beef, Cocktail prawns and assorted pasta

Chicken and corn soup, fried fish, spring rolls and Indian curries

Desert plate

The party planner and birthday girl

Almost finished desserts

Salad bar

The famous prawns - everyone on every single table had these

Assorted Chinese food

Happy girl with desserts

Overall the food was just so-so but it was quite worth it because we only paid 20 dollars each and had 4 full hours to stuff our selves with food. These were just some of the things I ate. I was too stuffed to even move after that and I even skipped dinner and was still full the next morning. LOL.

After that, we went for a karaoke session because there was nothing else better to do. I chose green box instead of red box because the latter has too little songs. Sang many English oldies because we didn't really know how to sing Chinese songs and new English songs are too hard to sing because they don't make sense. Haha. Something funny happened in the K, we were too excited and started standing on the sofa (mainly because my feet hurt in my shoes, so I didn't want to wear shoes but I wanted to stand - so I opted to stand on the sofa :P). After standing on the sofa for quite some time, "do not stand on the sofa plz!" appeared on the screen! LOL! We abruptly sat down and laughed our heads off. Lesson learnt: Do not stand on the sofa when singing K in Australia.

Pretending to sing because it was already after the K session

Went home right after K and had a celebration at home with my house mates. I appreciate them finding some time to celebrate my birthday with me because all of them are actually quite busy. Really touched and happy! Thanks so much and a big hug to you guys for making my day so special. And thanks Candy for organizing everything! Such a good friend! :D

Cutting the cake - Taro cake from Savoy

All of us together. I was actually wearing all the presents they gave me

I also want to thank everyone who remembered my birthday and wished me. I really appreciate it. Thanks everyone! *Gives a big hug to everyone*

And also thanks to Kuan Lung for taking some time off from your studies just to accompany me on my birthday even though you are very busy with exams. Muacks! I love you! Arigatou gozaimasu!
