Who was here?

A trip South
Written at Sunday, March 8, 2009 | back to top

Well, today I'm finally going to blog about my trip to Singapore last month on the 16th of February. There were several reasons why I wanted to go to Singapore though. The main reason was because I was going back to Australia very soon and there was very little time left to spend with my boy. Hehehe. The other reason was that I didn't really explore Singapore during my last trip there (before I went for this trip I mean) cos I was only there for 2 days to transit my flight from Sydney back to KL.

Anyway, I took the bus down to the small island and it took me around 6 hours from Bangsar to Novena. The bus I caught was from "first coach". The service was quite good and the bus was quite comfortable actually. Just that the driver was very careful I guess, so it took sooooooo long to reach.

From Novena, I caught the MRT (by myself... so cham, no one there to pick me up :-P) to Boon Lay station. The whole experience was so tiring cos the trains were packed and the trip was again soooooooooo long... And from Boon Lay interchange, I caught the bus to NTU which was my destination.

Some landmark at NTU to signify the completion of the first phase of the uni

Another landmark I suppose?

NTU is humongous compared to UNSW. For me, who is very bad in my sense of direction, I could get lost easily here. Anyway, with the help of Mr KL, I went to most of the parts of the university. Well, most of the famous parts of it anyway.

The "spine' of the whole university. Quite a special concept.

Me... taking pictures at the spine

A food court at NTU. I'll tell you one thing, the canteens at this uni are so cool.
There's so much variety there and there's even McD and Sakae Sushi ON CAMPUS!
Haih... I wish UNSW was like this.

During my days in Singapore, we visited some tourist spots which consists of places around the flyer. Haha. Actually we wanted to go on the "duck tours" or the "hippo river cruise" thing. But unfortunately, we felt that it was not worth it.

So instead, we went up the flyer to get the best view of Singapore. It was quite thrilling to see the whole city high up above. Everything looks so small and cute. And with the help of a headset, we could actually know where and what to look at during the whole experience. Too bad we went there in the early afternoon, so we weren't lucky enough to experience both the night and day view of the city (if we went in the evening, then maybe can c both ma).

A church, obviously

People getting married (actually taking photos) at the court house.
I was lucky enough to see 2 couples snapping wedding photos that day.

Stamford Raffles looking stylish

The picture says it all

I forgot the purpose of this building... But it seems that someones
really confused and frustrated in front of it yeah? :-P

Me in the flyer. Do you feel that the background looks fake???
It's actually real

Besides sight seeing, we also went for food hunting actually. But Singapore's food is not worth mentioning (no offence to Singaporeans though, it's just my personal preference) compared to Malaysian food. However, one good dish there which I highly recommend is Singapore's Katong Laksa. The taste is superb and you can't find anything to match this unique blend of flavours in anywhere else in the world (again, my opinion only). If you ever step foot in Singapore, you've got to try this. I went to Queensway mall specially to try it but there's several famous shops in the East Coast as well.

Well, I didn't do much at Singapore cos I felt that there was nothing much to do. One thing is because I come from KL where stuff there is much cheaper... So I was very kiam siap in spending. Haha. Hence, without money, there's not much that you can do right?
