Visit Penang 2009 (Part 2)
Written at Monday, February 9, 2009 | back to top

The very next day, after pestering my mom to bring me out cos I was so bored at home, we went to the island once again. Actually, our plan was just to go eat Kari Mee somewhere nearby but we ended up at the snake temple after lunch.

My mom used to go to this temple when she was young. Actually I was expecting many snakes there, but in the end. There was less than 10 I suppose? Don't know lah, maybe they're hiding somewhere.

Can you spot the poisonous pit viper?

Here it is

Actually, the temple is pretty small and there's not much to see. However, at this temple, you can actually take pictures with a Pyton and 2 pit vipers for around RM15 for each picture. Obviously, I didn't dare to risk my life. So instead, I present to you a brave family who courageously paid the money in order to wrap the venomous snakes around their precious neck. Hehe.

Stars of the day?

On the way back to the car, we saw a supposedly blessed well which they call dragon eyes. There should be another well around there somewhere but I couldn't seem to find it (eyes come in a pair ma. It's not a one eye jack dragon is it?). Because I'm a city girl, I never knew how to scoop water from a well. Never in my life I saw an actual well. However, my mom grew up in a kampung so she showed me how to do it. I even dared her to drink the water just for fun and she did! Haha, but it seems that it has a "water smell" as she described. I wonder what is that? I didn't try it lah of course. Such a coward.

Since we decided to wait for my dad to fetch him after work at 4.30 p.m., my mom and I decided to kill time at Penang's largest shopping mall : Queen's bay mall.

The verdict for this shopping complex from a KL girl?

Well, it's very similar to Midvalley megamall and Subang Parade. Many expensive brands inside and nothing much to do. At least, the brands are expensive to me as I am very stingy and poor. :-)

My mom decided to spoil me and my sweet tooth with some pancakes at Paddington. I personally prefer American type pancakes to Dutch type. They're too thin and "hard". Well, not as in hard as a stone but hard as in too chewy.

Actually, the pancake we bought was quite good besides the chewy part of it. The fruits were fresh and sweet. Although some of the fruits were from the can. The ice cream was nice too.

To end this entry, I'll leave you with something to laugh about. My mom couldn't stop laughing after I showed her this banner.
