It's been so long since I've last blogged. It's because it's
CNY and I've been away on a holiday @
balik kampung trip to
Pulau Pinang, or more precisely,
Seberang Prai.
I've been there for about a week starting 30
th January till yesterday. Although I usually will go back to
Penang at least once a year, I've never done anything touristy. So, when my parents mention the word "
Penang", the only word that comes into my mind was
boooooooringggggg!
However, this year it's different. As we went back on the 5
th day of
CNY, almost everything in
Penang was operating as normal. If not, everything will be closed
mah cos everyone is in a festive mood there.
Well, I didn't do anything on the first day I reached my aunt's place because it was already 1 o'clock in the afternoon and I was car-lagged (when u take airplane it's jet-lagged right?) plus I was sick. So, just spend the whole day sleeping, literally.
The next day was spent visiting my other aunt's place and gambling like most
Chinese families will do during
CNY.
Cards - Mahjong Style to play Si La MiThe third day, my parents decided to bring me out for once in my entire life to do something fun. So, we went to Kek Lok Si temple. Well, it was a very big temple and we had to endure many many steps and store keepers before we could actually reach the temple. I say "shop keepers" because there were so many shops established beside the stairs selling many souvenirs. Okay, if you don't get it, please refer to below.
Can you understand what I mean now??After going through the main obstacle (shops and stairs) and battling the urge to buy something totally useless, I finally reach the temple!
Ta-dah! It's the entrance!
Okay, basically when we visit a temple, what we'll do is pray like any normal Buddhist would do. But since this is a tourist spot.... any normal tourist would...?
SNAP PHOTOS of course! We went up and down the whole temple which is built on a hill. Heck, there was even an "inclined lift" up to the top most part of the temple. I even climbed up to the highest floor of the pagoda (it's shorter than the Genting Highland's temple's pagoda though).
Tortoise near the temple. So many of them you know!
There's even a GIANT one, but I didn't manage to get it's picture.
The Incline lift up to the top
Taking picture with the zodiac of the year.

Carved stone. Believe it or not, it's really a solid stone.
At the top most level of the Pagoda. Stay tuned for the subsequent parts of this post!!!
