Since Kuan Lung came to Sydney for the whole winter break, it is necessary to bring him to Fish Market as it is one of the main attractions here... Talk about boring... Imagine if it were in KL and people would say:
"Ada apa yang best kat sini?"
and the reply?
"Lah, tu... PASAR IKAN kat tepi laut tu... kan best!"
then, you will get a very blur and disgusted look cos as you know, Malaysia's beaches and seas are really polluted and the markets stinks like rotting flesh! :P
Ok, back to the story... Fish market in Sydney is a bit different from the wet markets found in Malaysia. Although it does reek of fishy odour, it's just 1% of the smells produced by Chow Kit market if you know what I mean.
I can't really recall what we did in the morning of the day due to insufficient capacity of my memory disc in the brain... However, if I'm not mistaken, we just had a lazy morning in at home and then out of the blue decided to go for lunch at the market. *Correct me if I'm wrong. Sorry sorry, don't la angry... :P*
As usual, we had to take the bus to Railway Square and catch the 501 to our ultimate destination. First thing first, have to survey the shops for the food. As I've been here for the 3rd time already, I am supposed to know which shops offer the best in terms of quality and price. However, I didn't know for sure because I've only heard recommendations from friends and never really tried the shops out for myself.
No one around to take pictures for you?
No worries, let the sun be the photographer for you!

Kuan Lung's masterpiece... He took around 10 bird pictures to get the perfect shot.
Talk about being enthusiastic!
So, sticking to the recommendations given by my friends from previous visits, I got 1/2 dozen of Oysters from the first shop on your left when entering the market (I totally forgot the name of the shop) and also got abalone and a cheese baked lobster from there. Then proceeded to buy Salmon sashimi and Tuna sashimi from Peters (if I'm not mistaken).
The next step was to find seats that could accommodate us at peak hour. So after searching high and low, we found one outside and had to battle to protect our food from the birdies which were staring intently at our platters.
We proceed to devour our dishes one by one starting from the oysters (which we actually had inside the market as we ate it before we bought the other dishes) which was fresh and zesty. Imagine, Kuan Lung who doesn't eat shellfish could even wallop half of it! Next, we had the abalone which was delicious and really plump. It costs $6 each but totally worth it as it was HUGE compared to those back home in Malaysia. Next up was the sashimi which was so-so as the tuna was not that fresh but the salmon saved the day. *Oh yea, I forgot to mention that I "stole" the soy sauce from another shop because Peters charges for their sauces* Finally, we had our fair share of lobster which was gobbled up till it became nothing but empty shells...
Step-by-Step guide on How to eat Oysters:

Step 1: Pose and promote Oyster to the camera.
Don't forget to SMILE!

Step 2: Try to successfully and gracefully dig up
the oyster and slid into your mouth.

Step 3: To your liking, either swallow the oyster in whole
(preferred method) or chew and swallow.
*Warning : gags might be experienced during first try*

Our main dish: Abalone and Lobster with sashimi in the bag
After our feast, we were still not satisfied so I decided to buy a mud crab to try, but it turns out that it was $40 for one and I don't think I can afford it! So I embarrassingly told the person to put back the crab and he gave me a smug look so I quickly turned away. However, we did get something else which Kuan Lung adored: smoked salmon. I don't quite fancy the taste because I feel it's just too salty.
Whist enjoying the salmon, we also had a "show" to watch. There was this Chinese couple buying fish at Peters and they were screaming at the fish monger over some mistake. Apparently, the fish monger gave them fish bones instead of what they ordered, so instead of telling him in a nice and civilized tone, they started screaming and shouting and calling for the manager. They even resorted to throw the fish bone back at the fish monger in their fury. Haha, talk about being well mannered (the guy was dressed in office clothes by the way). The manager did come out to try to turn down the heat and I guess they started to feel a bit embarrassed because everyone was staring at them, so they quieted down.
We proceeded to walk around for a bit more and looked at the seafood while comparing prices. We also headed to the fruit market and got ourselves a punnet of strawberries, really delicious strawberries which we had while waiting for the bus.
Weird stuff no 1: Albino beans (so called butter beans)
Weird stuff no 2: Albino giant chillies
Juicy plump strawberries which we ate without washing.
*It does help boost your immune system :P*
