Beware of things under your MATTRESS!
Written at Sunday, May 24, 2009 | back to top

You know how people always say, beware of things under your bed?? Well, today I discovered that not only do you have to be careful of things under the bed, you have to remember to check what's under your mattress too!

Well, just 10 minutes ago, I was happily wiping the 1 inch thick dust off my furniture in my room (yeah, I didn't have time to clean my room for the past few weeks, but I did vacuum it!) and a brilliant idea popped up in my mind. "Why don't i remove my mattress and wipe the support bars? It might be dusty too, and I've never wiped them before" I decided to do that because I've seen my ex-room mate (Colin) always dusting in wiping her bed during times in Akasia. Haha, but I never bothered.

And to my shock, i found a GIANT ant living there. My god... I nearly fainted. The bugger just started crawling away while I was stunned (half holding the heavy mattress up and another hand holding a damp cloth). I quickly threw my pillow and the mattress down on the floor and was ready to whack it but it already disappeared!! So i ran (ok, I just walked quickly) to the bathroom and grabbed the insect spray and sprayed the whole support thingy. The bugger didn't even die, it just crawled back up to the upper surface (I guess to get some fresh air?) and I whacked it with the cloth swiftly. Phew.... I didn't want to kill it, but we can't sleep on the same bed :-( . And knowing me, I despise insects! So, sorry Mr giant ant, I hope you're fine in heaven.

Just the thought of how long it has been there and what had it done while I was sleeping freaks me out. What if it crawled on me every night and you know.... ugh! *Shivers*

Oh well, just a note to self: check under the mattress regularly from now on!

The same kind of ant that was sleeping with me since god knows when.
I didn't take this picture, I was too scared to even touch it
(It's body is in the vacuum cleaner now) so I grabbed it from another site
