It's been really quiet here (I mean the blog) till I can hear the crows crow... I know, I've not been blogging lately and I have an excuse... Too many things to do and to little time. Not to mention the
Internet fees here is just too high... Hoping to get a wireless modem soon to cut down on my costs.
So what have I been up to you ask? Mei Fern came all the way from Perth to Melbourne and Sydney but too bad I
didn't join my ex-housemates in
Melbourne and Shin
Hoon didn't come down to Sydney.
Haha...
Ok, back to the story. So Mei Fern came and we went to several places in Sydney and
NSW.
First stop was the visitor's centre at Darling Harbour. Spent almost 2-3 hours there
lepaking and eating while booking our next day trip to the Blue Mountains and
Jenolan Caves.
Well, we travelled in a small bus that took us all the way up to Blue Mountains. The tour guide/driver was so friendly, telling us all about Australian History and also the history of Blue Mountains. He also pointed out some interesting facts about the Australian government, the Australian environment and anything to do with Australia. Too bad, half of the group (which are most of the Malaysians in the bus) were sleeping... and none of us in the group responded to what the tour guide said. Really sympathize the tour guide.
hahaha. Blue Mountains was so-so. Only the scenery was nice and kinda breath taking but not many things to see there.
Jenolan caves are much better with it's history and also it's limestone formations and crystals. If you still can walk up 900++ steps, it's worth the money to go to Lucas Cave (one of the caves located at
Jenolan).
The next day, Mei Fern and Ming
Shiuan decided to come to
Kingsford to visit me. I brought them on a mini-tour to show them around my house and also my campus. We then went to the fish market as Mei Fern wanted to eat fresh oysters. Later in the afternoon, we went to
Coogee beach and took some pictures there and climbed some rocks and cliffs.
Haha, scary yet fun. After the beach, we decided to have dinner at my place accompanied by some 11.5% alcohol white wine. Nearly drunk but not so
geng cos I still can talk and walk after sleeping in the bus on the way to the
observatory. Yes, after the wine, I still can go to the
observatory to look at the moon and the stars. We managed to look at the moon, alpha
centauri and also the jewel box although it was kinda cloudy that night.
On Wednesday, the whole group from Perth/Brisbane/Sydney which was made out of 11
pharmacy students and 1 commerce student (which is me) decided to go to Central Coast for whale watching. Too bad the whales were too shy that day.. So we just enjoyed the sea breeze and Max Brendan's chocolate. For your information, Max Brendan is a famous
chocolatier in Australia (that's what they said). His hot chocolate is really rich and his vanilla ice-cream coated with milk chocolate is superb although after a while, you feel sick from having too much of something too good. So, the whole trip consumed the whole day and we managed to get back to Sydney City in time for dinner at a Malaysian Chinese Restaurant. The food was not bad for a Malaysian restaurant in Sydney and it's really cheap too!
Thursday was Chinatown day as the 3 of us spent our time shopping for souvenirs in the morning at Paddy's. Lunch was at a nice dim sum restaurant called the Great China Restaurant (if I'm not mistaken) at Market City. Followed by a nice window-shopping spree at
QVB and Myers.
That's all for the week. Today is Friday and the Pope is at
Randwick Racecourse for the huge Mass (World Youth Day
mah!). So, I'll end this photo-less post here
abruptly. (I don't have pictures cos I don't own a camera)
