Shopping at QVB
Written at Monday, June 23, 2008 | back to top

Yes, It's my first trip to QVB (Queen Victoria Building). I know, I know, I've been in Sydney for so long already but then I've never been to any other places to shop except Randwick Junction. So unfortunate right? So, yesterday after I went there to "celebrate" the start of my holidays with Susanah (she's a PhD student so don't really have to celebrate anything, just accompany me. haha)
It's a really special building and you can't find any shopping centres like this in Malaysia. It seems that you've stepped back in time when you enter this building. Every thing is like so ancient but well maintained.. You'll understand when you see the pictures...

Looking at QVB

Her Majesty and yours truly

And Isle, Her best friend

Isle is a really special dog... well according to the statue, Isle is given the power of speech! I guess its just a myth. But he seems very cute. I bet his fur is white when he was living.. But now it's black... hahaha...

Ok, The interior of the building is really nice, even the toilets are classical... Just look at the doors and stuff. However, the toilet bowls and sinks are new... And Susanah said the front door of the toilets are automatic! Unbelievable!

The toilets at QVB

I discovered something strange on my way up the stairs.. there was a hanging door. I wonder what's it for... Seems a bit mysterious and scary at the same time..

The door

Okay.. these pictures shows the interior of the building. Really awesome... There's so many of those big clocks but I didn't have the chance to hear them chime (I don't know whether they chime or not.. haha..)

The elevator, but I didn't take a ride on it though

Susanah and I were fortunate enough to get free ice creams from Virgin Blue... Must be some kind of advertising strategy...

The Ice Cream van

Too Happy to get the ice cream d

I came back exhausted on that day but I still had to attend some meeting at Malaysia Hall at 5.30 p.m. Really tiring and fun day. Managed to get a few clothes for really cheap. Thanks Susanah for bringing me out... :-)
